Discovering the snow in Alta Badia

From the door-step of our hotel start the trails for relaxing walks in the snow. With the arrival of winter the village of La Val offers numerous beaten tracks where it is possible to walk with both, boots and snowshoes. Many paths allow one to sledge, an activity that always entertains both young and old alike. For those who want to take a walk in the fresh snow, there is ample opportunity and you can rent snowshoes from our hotel.

Walking on path n. 15 and then path n. 16, one reaches the Rit meadows which are high above the village. Through forests and meadows, dotted with numerous hutten, you will enjoy a stunning view over the Sas dales Nü. Once at the top you have the option to descent down the slope on a sledge towards the residential area of Cians or to walk back on the same path.

From the hotel you take the path n. 15 that leads through forests of firs and larches to the “pride of La Val”, the Armentara meadows: a breath taking expanse of snow-covered fields under the slopes of the Sass dla Crusc, with a panoramic view over the Puez plateau and the Peitlerkofel. After a leisurely walk, it is wonderful to warm up with with a hot drink or a delicious snack at the nearby “Ranch by André”.

Further along the path n. 15 takes you to the expanses of meadows at the foot of the Sasso Santa Croce. From there the trail 15A leads to one of the most appreciated panoramic points of Alta Badia: the Sanctuary of Santa Croce. Here you can dine whilst surrounded by truly impressive views of the snow-covered valley below you.
